The record belongs to twin brothers from England, whose pumpkin weighed 1,278.8 kg in October 2025. At the height of summer a champion pumpkin can put on more than 20 kg in a single day.
How to estimate it
Record pumpkins are flattened blobs about 1.6 m long, 1.5 m wide and 1 m tall. An ellipsoid's volume is 0.52 × length × width × height: 0.52 × 1.6 × 1.5 × 1 = 1.25 cubic metres. Pumpkin flesh is about as dense as water, but there is a hollow centre, so take 80 percent: 1,000 kg. The record stands at about 1,300 kg.
