Botanically, each of those 'seeds' is a separate tiny fruit, and the red flesh is just the swollen base of the flower.
How to estimate it
Estimate the surface and the spacing. A strawberry is roughly a ball 3 cm across, with a surface of 3.14 × 3² = 28 square centimetres. The seeds sit in a regular pattern about 3.5 mm apart, which gives 1 / 0.35² = 8 seeds per square centimetre. 28 × 8 = 224. Counts on real fruit give about 200 seeds.
