How today's question works
Every player gets the same question each day, and you only get one guess. Type your number, use the ×10³ and ×10⁶ shortcuts if it is a big one, then lock it in.
The result shows your guess and the real answer side by side on a magnitude ruler, with the source of the figure and a fun fact about it.
Tips for a better estimate
- Start from something you know, such as the world population or the length of a year in seconds, then multiply or divide.
- Round aggressively. At this scale, 3 and 4 are the same number.
- Use the notepad: end a line with = and it calculates for you.
- Check your exponent twice. Most big misses come from one lost factor of a thousand.
FAQ
Can I change my answer?
No. You get one guess per day, which is what makes the streak meaningful. You can replay past questions in the archive without affecting your streak.
What counts as a good score?
Above 80 means you were within one order of magnitude, which is a strong estimate. Above 95 is nearly exact.
Does the question reset at the same time for everyone?
The question changes at midnight local time, so the day starts when yours does.
